Lacking in many ways to the original series, Fear The Walking Dead does differ to it, for better and worse. It lacks a lot of the heart and solid characters of TWD. Not to mention, lacks much depth or insight this new viewpoint could bring. However, despite it not being fleshed out, it's much slower pace and build is a nice change up to the formula. It stands on its own fine, but it's hard to not compare it to it's clearly superior older brother. Sadly, this could've been more.

Basically just the Walking Dead with different characters. The chance to do something different within the universe has sadly been wasted for this copycat version. With season 3 it seems like the writers just gave up and just started to reuse the walking dead script plot line for plot line. S1 - 45 S2 - 45 S3 - 15

Not as good as the original and a bit slow, it still remains an interesting subject since you get the investment of the not so slow crumbling of society drawn out over a medium that allows exploration.

For people who say it's "too slow", if it started with zombies everywhere, how would it be any different than "The Walking Dead"?

Although it began with some promising cowboys-n-injuns-n-zombies, the writers decide to being woke is more important than making money for AMC, tanking viewership by season 4 after a temporary bounce from getting a Walking Dead transfer. For their ineptitude, the writers were rewarded with an additional 4 seasons that nobody watched, a total of 8.

After Season 5 there has been a continuous decline that seems contradictory to the previous growth of the characters. In the last season, 8, maybe also thanks to the break in the release schedule tried to make up for it and resume the ideas formed. A similar trend then to what has already happened with the main series The walking Dead.

It may never have been one of the greatest shows on TV, but its early improvement and subsequent decline are among the most steep and extensive contrasts in quality I've seen from a comparably budgeted series, even more so than its predecessor. I'm a bit disgusted by how long I stuck with it considering the unabashedly lazy and moronic depths it somehow managed to reach. Regardless, they'll probably create far worse spin-offs to keep milking the putrescent corpse of this rotting franchise.

I really liked the first episode, but it seemed to drag more and more the further I went into the season. By season 2, after a few episodes I just tuned out.

If they keep up the good work like in the first half of season 3, this could become one of my favorites.

At times this show is better than the original only because it is unpredictable. Frank Dillane and Kim Dickens are acting stand outs. Dillane is believable as the struggling drug addicted Nick who is thrown into this new world with nothing but the instinct to survive.

They could make at least three more TWD spinoffs and I would still watch all of them. The long-form, improvised zombie apocalypse drama is simply a perfect fit for TV even when the writing isn't amazing. I enjoyed the first season of this plenty and I'm excited to see where it goes.
