Fairly funny. One of the better incarnations of ABC's new business model of The Wonder Years, but for minorities.

It's a family sitcom on ABC, and it feels a lot like all the other family sitcoms on ABC (Modern Family, The Middle, Black-ish, etc.). The ABC family sitcom machine is incredibly efficient and well-oiled and rarely lets anything resembling true incompetence slip through; however, anything more than 22 minutes of occasional light chuckles and tension/stakes-free family dramedy rarely slips through either.

Really funny at times, but too much overt force-feeding of USA-good clichés to feel like it matters. Jessica is interesting and complex, but it goes down from there. The father is insufferable. I do not recommend a drinking game where you drink every time he says "Cattleman's" or "American". Makes my skin crawl. Boys+grandma=mixed bag. Most of all, the show broadcasts Ultra Conservative Christian Taiwanese 1950s values, but pretends we don't have ears. The intended audience must ages over 80.

It's a sitcom with gimmicks that work well. The first two seasons are slightly stronger in terms of character growth and heart, but there are plenty of funny moments throughout thanks to a genuinely funny and talented cast. Light entertainment, but that's a good thing.

Gradevole e ben fatta, anche se non spicca sotto nessun aspetto. Alla lunga ha cominciato a diventare ripetitiva ed in particolare l'ultima stagione ha risentito della mancanza di nuove idee; giusta la cancellazione, peccato il finale un po' sbrigativo.
