Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

It’s inoffensive but so generic & lacking in nuance, I just don’t see the point. It couldn’t be more on the nose. I kept waiting for some slight twist or nuance, but it never stopped being completely basic & earnest in a way that would have bored me to tears as a child. Like American Girl dolls in the 90s. The art is very pretty, but nothing new.

I started watching this after some YouTube videos hyping it. It slow paced but I like this type of pacing and found it full of interesting characters some not to my taste but the story knows when to change perspectives. The show likes to play with tropes and expectations. First part of season 1 loved it then opening change and a tournament! First few episodes of that I disliked but as it went on I quite liked it. New interesting characters. Will season 2 continues be as good as the first.

Peak.

One of the best anime series out there. Really explores the notion of time and immortality. Plus, it's fantasy based. Some great art, and a compelling and complicated main character, it subverts a lot more traditional anime tropes.

This is beautiful

The first half exceeded all of my expectations as I entered the anime with complete suspicion, while the second half was just boring and had nothing to do with what made the anime interesting in the first place. From I couldn't wait to continue watching, to I don't care anymore.... E01-1x (8-9/10) ; E1x-28 (5-6/10)

Fantastic show that's easy to recommend. However, it's far from a masterpiece. While this show gets a lot right it kind of hides its weaknesses behind rather one dimensional characters that people perceive as deep because they don't talk much or have neuro divergent traits. It just feels like there's a more interesting story here but they don't know how to tell it and are too stuck in the concept. Everything happens as you expect.

Just a bit too slow for me

Genuinely the best written show I have ever watched and on top of that the animation design is absolutely stunning. Watching the character progression is so awesome. The writers really think of every detail about this show. The fight scenes are really enjoyable to watch and so are the slow scenes. I don't think I will ever watch a show as good as this one. My one complaint is that it was the tiniest bit too slow to start
