The movie really takes a hit when the Major isn't on screen and it mostly turns into talking heads. The story, ideas and visuals are still solid however and the movie was at least reasonably entertaining if nothing else.

Way more paranoia than in the previous stories.

If you are familiar with the previous installments there is no reason you won't enjoy this one as well. I haven't seen the Stand Alone Complex series yet, but I had no problem following this movie as most of the characters are the same and it is situated in the same universe, and also has a story that follows the previous films. The great thing with these films is the beautiful and very detailed scenes they create.

The plotline is too complex, though what's understandable is quite good, perhaps if I'd watched the series I would find it better. Other reviews say there's philosophy in it, the little bits that I saw where just hinted at, not gone into in any understandable detail.

A good ending of the 2° GiG series and, by the GITS timeline, the last episode of the saga.

Connects the masterful television series season 2 to 3. Season 3 is not there out yet, so the pieces doesn't place. Animation is top quality with a complex plot. Not reccomended without the series.

Well-done, using Motoko as a possible antagonist was a good move. Plus, Togusa has some very memorable scenes throughout the series. Of course, the animation and action are as well done as ever.

Not as metaphysical as the first two but still an interesting story.

This movie was great, though the ending was a little shaky. I am pretty positive it is impossible to make anything related to Ghost in the Shell bad.

Ghost in the Shell: Solid State Society is at least better than 2nd Gig by virtue of not feeling like fanservice, but it still falters somewhat in its role of being a conclusion movie. For starters, the animation is barely better than the series. Secondly, the narrative struggles in tying this independent storyline to the main sub-plots of the entire series. The former is much less interesting than the latter after this much time, but the ending of SSS is still satisfying and fitting.

A continuation of the (mostly excellent) tv series, so not really like the actual two movies. It's fun. There's a nifty plot twist.
