Really enjoyed this one! A fun juxtaposition of semi tongue-in-cheek fantasy (RPG) clichés and gorey fantasy action, to hammer home how brutal and traumatising adventuring can be for level 1s who underestimate goblins. Having the titular character be a monomaniacal stoic/emotionally broken person, who's really good at a shit job, allows for surprising subtlety. And the main characters just hanging out.. feels wholesome. I only wish the females escaped the Japanese anime character tropes.

This is watchable though very generic LIT-RPG-type anime that trades gore for story, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. The characters are all likable enough, and a good portion of the humor lands, however the animation while serviceable can't be called good. But my bigest gripe with the anime was its horrendous opening song.

A garbage fantasy that uses shock value as a daft attempt to subvert expectations and to convey how cool and badass the protag is. Yet even after the expectations are subverted, the show decides it's more important to ignore its established tone to give us awkward sexualization and a lot of "quests" which can be described as light hearted slice of life. This is made worse by the fact that the world building is completely asinine and a total after thought, but hey, rape goblins amirite?
