The tale tells the story of Stephen, a young boy who is sent to stay with his uncle at a remote country mansion. His uncle is a reclusive alchemist obsessed with making himself immortal. Stephen is repeatedly troubled by visions of two gypsy children with their hearts missing, and he soon realises that their appearances are a warning to stay clear of his uncle. (Wikipedia)

I normally eat this kind of ghost story up with a spoon, but this adaptation needed to be longer to do the material justice. Still enjoyable enough.

Joseph O'Conor is fun in a Universal horror villain kind of way and the camerawork is probably the best of the series, but this one is just too short. That said, the ghouls at the windows seems to anticipate Salem's Lot.

A TV movie that time hasn't really been kind to, Lost Hearts certainly remains enjoyable but works more effectively as comedy-horror in the 21st century, the 1970s costumes and special effects failing to convince.

This was a good mix of dry English ghost story and more entertaining horror tropes. It also has a black humor to it as you find out what the uncle is up to. The limitations of 70's British TV productions are evident in some FX shots and make-up, but I really enjoyed this one and prefer it to some of the higher regarded ones like "Whistle and I'll come to you".
