The over the top scenarios make it a little eye rolling at times, but Grylls is so earnest and capable it remains entertaining.

The host is undeniably dynamic and sports an outrageously cool name, but the show is just so staged that it completely undermines its whole premise. I much prefer the realism of Les Stroud's Survivorman.
