Mayans M.C.

This show demonstrates how necessary Jax was to Sons of Anarchy. Not that EZ is a bad character, he's actually a fairly decent one, but his story arc just doesn't work as well. Fucked up people do fucked up things, barely show remorse, avoid most consequences until the very end. When everyone's a villain or an unlikeable character, who am I meant to root for? Watched it until the end hoping for a turnabout, but it never happened. Dull show, weak ending.

I was seriously jonesing for some more Sons of Anarchy. Mayans is a welcome addition but lacks a charismatic leader like Jax. There is a lot of filler to get to the action and plot points. Deliciously convoluted. The gunfights were pathetic. Even though it's an imitation of SOA it fills a void and provides some welcome MC entertainment. Far too much spoken Spanish.

At this point the world is so large because of all the seeds planted by SOA. However Mayans M.C right out of the gate is a much better show narratively and emotionally than SoA was. Opting often times for character growth over action sequences Mayans M.C was clear the plan was for more than one season. It was well timed, well planned and each actor had times to shine. Most effective were Danny Pino, Richard Cabral and Clayton Cardenas. Three characters I cannot wait to see more from.
