Can't honestly remember much of the series but I do remember this being one of my required TV alongside with the X-files, Buffy, Stargate and other gems of the 90's.

Maybe the grimmest show ever to air in primetime. Outside of Darin Morgan's contributions, I doubt there were two jokes the whole run. But that's the 'fun': a deadly serious take on the varieties of millennialist prophecy. 20 years on, no belief system's proven more prescient than barcode-o'-the-beast Christian apocalypticism (which is to say, pep pill'd Ellul) and this keyed into that interestingly. The procedural stuff's overrated/formulaic, but the crazy "Horses" stuff is peak post-TWIN PEAKS

At times this show was incredibly creepy, dark and entertaining. By the third season it falters completely and was cancelled shortly thereafter.

Somehow, after a better-than-average first season in the supernatural procedural mold, the quality improves exponentially as the series evolves into something far darker and stranger, concerned almost entirely with its ongoing story and coalescing in a preposterously impressive finale where Kristen Cloke loses her mind the soundtrack of Patti Smith's Horses, surely one of the most incredible television moments of all time. Sadly, it changes again in the third season and becomes unwatchable.

Based off distant memory, needs rewatch (apparently only of the first two seasons).
