This what TV can do. It can take time. Use redundancies as narrative strategies, find development in the little details, not in the big speeches. Just don't make a mistake twice and you are doing fine. Try to express what you are feeling and accept other people's love. That sounds banal but because Normal People honors these sentiments with scale, time, and the structural abilities of its medium it can turn them into something meaningful. It creates wisdom so to speak.

Every technical facet of this is done well; evocative but all working together to accentuate the beating heart of this thing, Mescal and Edgar-Jones. They are giving exquisite, vulnerable performances. Mescal especially plays a character I've never seen on television. His scene with the therapist is an all-timer. The pacing, structure and dialogue also keeps the same high standard, however part of the narrative feels immature. Overly precocious protagonists and underdeveloped side-characters.

As Ms. Rooney was only 27 when she wrote this, I am not really her target age demographic. That said, I couldn't relate to a single character, nor hardly a single action, in this 6hr tale of frustrating, uncommunicative, on-off teen romance. Do milennials really just walk out a room, or a dance, without explaining why? Having spend 6 hours invested in these characters and STILL not a "happy ending" it was just frustrating, and a real letdown. "Normal People"? Not in MY world. Great acting though

Pessoas Normais estreava há 5 anos no Reino Unido. Vi só a metade por hoje, é bem fiel ao livro e os atores são ótimos, a boa notícia é que não está me esgotando emocionalmente como o livro, veremos na segunda metade. Plus: Fiquei meio puta que cortaram a dedada menstruada, um dos melhores momentos do livro, já deu esse tabu de sexo menstruada no audiovisual, né? Knaben.

A crazy acting masterclass, especially by Mescal so if you like that stuff a must-watch for every movie lover.

Some pf the show is over the top and not realistic, but the beginning and end are completely realistic and its a nice circle with an ambiguous ending

I found the high school period particularly unconvincing, although it does lay the necessary groundwork. There's a certain adolescent fan fiction sort of quality to the characters that occasionally distracts, but for the most part the dialogue & story is well done.

I hope I never meet these two actors. I would be obsessing over them as these characters. It would be weird and it would be their fault. Not mine.

It's low-key and very honest. Some great acting, and proper chemistry between the leads. Liked it a lot.

This is lovely. It's a well proportioned production - it's not deep or heavy, but it's not light or frivolous. It doesn't really go anywhere new; just explores late-teen, early adulthood relationships frankly, romantically and with heart. Strong acting, intimate sex scenes, leaves you with deep understanding and empathy with the connection between the two, which is enough. Perfect amount of content for 6-8 episodes, but they made 12, with some themes repeating without adding much new.

mostly good but if you've seen the first few episides you've seen them all. The main characters pretty much get together and break up and fuck every episode ROFL!!
