This town should look familiar, but suddenly, it's not. The taxi driver Odokawa lives a very mundane life. He has no family, doesn't really hang out with others, and he's an oddball who is narrow-minded and doesn't talk much. The only people he can call his friends are his doctor, Gouriki and his classmate from high school, Kakibana. All of his patrons seem to be slightly odd themselves. All these mundane conversations somehow lead to a girl who's gone missing. [TMDB, edited]

In a completely anthropomorphic world the universes of a taciturn hard to read taxi driver and various wrong doers collide... highly rated here and elsewhere but for me it was overly talky and uninvolving. To me it was a bad case of "the emperor's new clothes", could only make it to just past halfway. Animation, 13 eps each with a duration of 23 minutes odd.

I'm not sure if I've seen an anime this noir or a noir this anime. It's full of shades of gray without being cynical, it's got great banter inspired by manzai comedy, the characters are full of layers revealed one at a time, it's got a fascinatingly fucked-up Coen-Brothers-style Fiasco plot, and it keeps hitting you with interesting twists all the way to the last minute.
