Silo

S1 had a decent start and end but the writing in between is of a very low calibre. To fumble an interesting premise and create no intrigue or interest in the world is a major failure. Many things don’t make sense. They’re under ground for 400 years but don’t have any culture or lore to speak of? They speak like they do in 2025? S2 is even worse, a pest of bad characters and weaponized boredom. Steve Zahn criminally underused. Virgin River in a silo, but without the cult appeal.

Ferguson is as terrific as always, and both Robbins and Iain Glen are also very good in their roles. Common, not so much. The pilot introduced the main mystery of the first season perfectly, and if the show can keep things interesting going forward while continuing to expand its world with as much imagination then the sky (rather than the ground) is the limit.

No replacement for The Expanse, but watchable.

I love everything about this. The setting, the mysterious screen in the dining hall, the characters, all good.

Another "mystery box" show that doesn't get it. Lost opened with Jack the handsome doctor, Sawyer the charming rogue, Locke the wise mystic and Kate as a total babe. Silo goes with a clueless sheriff, an old sheriff, a rebellious pencil pusher and an inept nerd. That's bad enough, but by the second episode they are all pushed aside for a 40 years old mechanic who acts like an angsty teenager and in the off chance the mystery hooked you in, the third episode is all about fixing a steam generator.

Great show that builds characters in a boring envierment

Initial episode is very strong, and there's initially some great world-building, but slowly becomes more soap opera than sci-fi world. Second season lacks clear stakes (why did Julia "saving" the few individuals in the other Silo matter? It didn't really, despite the over-emotiveness.) More deus ex machina than coherent world. Third season flashback actors/script are acutely terrible.

The Silo is everywhere. It is all around us, even now in this very room. You can see it when you look out your window, or when you turn on your television. You can feel it when you go to work, when you go to church, when you pay your taxes. It is the world that has been pulled over your eyes to blind you from the truth.

Watched 1 season. Given the high IMDB ratings, I expected way better. There are SO MANY bugs and problems with this series that don't make any sense. The lack of attention to details and realism is blinding. All that for the sole purpose of making a "mysterious" story. There is nothing special about the show. The ony good things were the music (above average) and maybe the plot twists. That's it. Everthing else is just meh. It's entertaining enough if you want to kill some time.
