Deliciously overwrought, high-camp festive treat is well and truly in SANTA CLAUS CONQUERS THE MARTAINS territory – villainous Mrs Mavilda is a hilariously venal, evil tyrant for the ages, battling against the most simpering cast of kids this side of ANNIE. Highlighted by the epic wild bear and domesticated dog fight, Mrs Mavilda’s boozy and smoky poker nights, and a final sign-off narration that tries to put an “all is well” bow onto a situation that will escalate to ugliness very quickly!

My parents would really just let me watch whatever as a kid, huh?
