The Continental: From the World of John Wick

I think this series started out strong, with some great action, and Mel Gibson making for a good villain, but episodes 2 and 3 bored me.

Anytime mel gibson (yes, I intentionally didn't capitalise his name) was on screen all I could think was "Ew, he is getting paid for this. I hate it." There was no need to speed up the combat hits, it looked terrible. Any cg was awful.

A very average show that ignores many details established in the John Wick series. While not a bad show overall the plot is a bit of a mess, the fight scenes are fairly average at best, the lighting and cinematography are distracting, and the constant stream of 70s songs is intrusive. There is more to dislike than there is to enjoy here. If they had not broken from the lore established in the films it would have been more interesting. As it stands, the show feels wholly unnecessary.

This year, the John Wick franchise has had both a long installment that is one of it’s strongest if not THE strongest, and an even longer one that’s one of its weakest. It’s not without its strengths, but it can’t help but feel like a disappointment.

Great soundtrack and very stylish. Well worth a watch.

Cliches abound and it is yet another "world building" series, but strangely somehow feels original. The action comes quickly, and the pacing works. Not artful, but I'd watch another like it.
