The one new network drama to debut this fall that I was actually compelled to watch to the end of the season. Derivative of the original film at points and the season finale had a few lazy elements, but in its best scenes and episodes it really gets this kind of psychological/supernatural/body horror stuff down pat, with surprisingly interesting characters and rich, moody cinematography for network television. Easily the best expansion on the Exorcist mythology since the 1973 original.

Slow burn PG-rated horror? The power of boredom compels me...to stop watching.

Season 1: 70 / Season 2: 80

The real shame of the Exorcist is that it never really got the chance to find it's footing. However, you could really see the interesting show that this was going to become by the end of season 2. Supernatural but with actual religious elements and actual horror is a good premise, and I'm sad Fox cancelled it before they inevitably tried to adapt Exorcist 3.

Extremely Hollywood-ized update of the Exorcist story, lots of CG, lots of jump scares, overusing everything on hand (conspiracies, "expanded universe" of the original etc.). Didn't generate enough enthusiasm for me to sit through the second season.

I do not know why it got canceled. I preferred the first season but the second one has John Cho :-). So much potential.
