Far too much misdirection and too many red herrings. It gets convoluted and idiotic before the first season is finished.

Kinneman aside, who does no wrong and is the only redeeming assett to this show, this is such an increasingly frustrating watch. Everyone is so unrealistically inept at their jobs (the politician storyline deserves an essay about how hilariously bad it is) and most characters are just there to obstruct the investigation and don't have a life outside the eye of the camera. No interaction goes as you want it to go, but not in a good way. The pacing is a cut by thousand wounds. S1: 65 S2: 25

Season 1 & 2: not great but enjoyable. Season 3: OK Season 4: badly acted, nonsensical garbage

Only watched the season one. My reaction: Its like a giant pile of dead kids, it sucks and you question the monsters that made the decision to reach this conclusion. Maybe its not actually that bad but the last episode was a big fuck you to the viewer so fuck this show right back.

Moody and dark, its lack of payoff on its own gimmick rubbed people the wrong way and it never recovered. The leads however are amazing and it remains a good enough watch.

Liked the last two seasons more than the first two, although the ending was a little odd, tonally. [Netflix]

This series is really intense, the two main characters are perfect for this show, they work off eachother so well! It twists, it turns, it is a dramatically charged roller coaster ride. If you love a good detective story, you would be doing yourself a huge service by watching this.

i never put 100 score, but objectively my score could have been bigger like 84-94 as it is solid product. however subjectively it is not easy for me to consume non-procedural detective series. so some penalty in score is my bias against that genre.

Not as good as the Danish Forbrydelsen. Decent remake.

[Complete] Only 2 first seasons actually remade Forbrydelsen 1st Season and in that aspect, Forbrydelsen is much better, though I prefer the way The Killing resolves the crime (and the murderer because it's not the same). 3rd season starts nice but spoils it all with an absurd resolution. 4rd season well, just a necessary ending and an awful ending. So enjoyable but less interesting and more standard in every way than Forbrydelsen (that by the way has a perfect 3rd and final season).

Thankfully not to much Americanized remake of the Danish Forbrydelsen. It's decent but does not have the authentic ambiance the scandinavian series have.

Season 1 was good enough to recommend but I lost interest somewhere in the middle of season 2.

Dreary and dark, The Killing is as intense as mystery drama's can be and easily makes benefit of focusing on a singular case at a time rather than the weekly procedural. Joel Kinnaman is the stand out on the acting front, his unique dialogue provides his character of Stephen Holder with street cred that is rarely seen on these type of shows.
