Gideon Yago might just be the worst television writer ever. EVER!! I've never seen a series go from 100 to 0 so fast. What started off as an unpredictable, gripping, promising adaptation of this fun neo-Luddite story quickly spirals out of control into a disgraceful pile of absurdities, cliches and excess, way beyond the point of salvation. Despite an outstanding performance from Theroux (in an otherwise inept cast), the writers just didn't understand the nuances of his character. What a shame.
A bit of a disappointment, it's not terrible its just perplexing at times and a bit repetitive. I like Theroux as an actor but his character is almost completely unlikable which makes it hard to really give a shit at times. If there is a second season, I will see how the previews feel before deciding to continue.
