Supposedly a grown-up Doctor Who, seemed a poor clone of Buffy... to me.

It starts out as a pretty solid more adult Doctor Who spinoff. I loved the first two seasons, which really felt like an extension of the Captain jack we met in Who. The third and fourth seasons didn't quite hit as strongly for me, as I felt having one story arc for the full season was too much of a limitation, but there's some good storytelling in there, especially with the third season.

Torchwood (or Doctor Who Dark) is a mixed bag of a series that has plenty of interesting ideas, often let down by their execution. The series serves as a way for creator Davies to continue to showcase his affinity for LGBTQ characters in more pronounced, but no more explicit, way compared to DW. S01 is still finding its footing, introducing character and the world. S02 is actually pretty great. S03 is downright depressing (but good drama). S04 is the Americanised reboot that has pacing issues.

Not as charming or as fun as Doctor Who, but there's good drama to be had here.

A show that tried to be for adults but came off as very immature and unlikable.
