People involved with education seem to love this, and the ABC seems to love Lilley, but I find his comedy virtually unwatchable.

A comedy show far more reliant on its performances, rather than the script. There's almost no funny jokes, situations, or gags throughout, so the humour really comes from how amusing and versatile one man can play various characters. He does a good job, establishing very different people, and it's somewhat watchable just for that, yet still feels its overstaying its welcome even at six episodes.

Lilley's ability to become these characters is damn impressive. I also really love the sort of simple idea that, even though these are people competing for Australian of the Year, they include some generally bad people who've done one arguably good deed. Seems just too appropriate for our culture.
