This satisfied my hunger from British crime. Couldn't go to bed until I'd seen the entire mini-series. The police where a little too animated, but the incompetence was well deserved after cocking up that investigation so badly. The rest felt well developed and ensured a enticing murder in true classic Brit-style.

ITV takes a leaf out of the Netflix 'why tell a tale in two episodes when you can drag it out to six?' manual, with the bookends of this mini series containing almost all the meat of the story. The four-episode filler is unnecessarily slow and boring and adds very little: what's worse, by the end of the series you're no more the wiser about what went on than when you started. Pretty pointless.

I don't think the show should have existed, let alone for six episodes. The story is cut and dry, predictable from the start and the show offered no suspense, emotions or intrigue. Yes, a lot of true stories are cut and dry, but it's up to the writers and the director to make it more interesting for us. It was very prolonged, they didn't even try to offer a different suspect and they made the convicted person look extremely guilty from the get-go.
