kinda ugh, was hoping for more

So-so. Not really a horror movie. It has some ups and downs but it keeps you interested to keep following the developments as they unfold.

Any time a horror movie brings up COMMUNITY so much in the first act all the neighbours are going to be psychos

Maybe if the movie didn't treat us all like the stupidest people alive it would be better. Watch Hooper's The Apartment Complex instead yayayayaya

The neighbors in Sarah's new apartment complex are way too good to be true, and in short order she's bodily pressured into joining their fold (bodily pressured as in, ya know, nails through her hands). Scientology metaphor is violent and sadistic, but also cleverly structured and full of surprising turns. (The ending bears more than a passing resemblance to a terrific horror film from 2015, but it works here too.)

Suffers from being obvious, and a bit of an absurd ending that is a ripoff of another similar movie (which I will not spoil, but if you've seen both you'll know). Still don't regret watching it. Its an alright movie.

Very pedestrian, but sincere, capably directed and played, and reasonably effective. I feel like with just a little more imagination this could have been really good.

This was definitely a creepy movie.

I wonder what the rent was? All things considered, it might be worth it. And all things considered, it's interesting putting yourself in the protagonist's shoes. The cult is just too rigid, dumb, and stereotypical for me to recommend 1BR.
