How did this even make it to film festivals? More of the bromidic mainstream films that France excels at churning out - pretty people in unaffordable Paris (and even, in this case, London) apartments trying hard not to look like they are acting while drinking their red wine. The ending must be one of the worst I've ever seen.

It made me think of Margaret which made me happy. The interactions between uncle and niece were very sweet. Great ending.

So brutal yet so delicately straightforward and economic. Life after trauma in Paris, where is now difficult to walk in the streets, hard to hear loud noises. This guy lost his sister and has to raise his niece. In the way, he has to deal with the girl she loves, also traumatized by the attack -- she thinks she can't handle taking care of someone else -- and his stranged mother. The final scenes at a Wimbledon tennis match are a joy. To live and to love is to resist.

The scene in the park is disturbing, the aftermath of the event is very rough, still, lead in a very serene manner.

Very French and very life affirming.

I too wish Manchester by the Sea had ended with a Jarvis Cocker song.
