This was a fun and slightly more serious outing for the Gauls. The film had a fun vibe to it and the pace was nice even if you already knew what was going to happen 5 minutes in. The middle sagged badly with a long unfunny montage sequence.

I'm more generous for kid movies, though it can be fun for the whole family. The design for the characters managed to really efficiently call back to the comics, while also having their own charm, and the balance between cartoonish and more realistic is well kept.

A strong story, plenty of funny moments and a bit of magic that the 2014 offering was missing. Again, cute animation and a good score, but it feels a little longer than its sub-90 minute runtime. Sulfurix (or Demonix) was a good villain.

While I wasn't a massive fan of the 2014 animated Asterix movie, this 2018 one is return to from and the Asterix I know and love. Sure, Asterix & Obelix takes a step back with the focus being on Getafix and the magic potion, but there are so many lovable characters in their little village, they had me laughing all the way. I grew up on the comics as some of my absolute favorite childhood memories, and this felt faithful enough to the old stories, so this was a instant love from me.
