Bubblegum Crisis

A cyberpunk classic. While the episodes vary a bit at times in regards to quality, the wonderful mix of 80s music, old school hand animation, and sci-fi stylings is more than enough to keep one's interest. Makes me want one of those robot suits. And how prescient was it with the antagonists being called 'boomers'!?

Blade Runner meets Power Rangers with delicious hand drawn animation and a rockin' 80's soundtrack. What's not to love?

This may be kids' stuff, and it may share the usual anime preoccupation with giant robots and big explosions and numerous cliches of science fiction, but I always love to watch it. I am by no means a big anime person, either

monster of the week, no stakes, slow pace, derivative. Not much to like.

BGC is one of the all-time classics of cyberpunk animation and anime in general. With a team of hawt chicks kicking butt in cute mecha outfits, while upbeat songs play in the background, Bubblegum Crisis has developed a franchise and staying power that few titles can match. Quite a number of sequels have been created as a testament to this. BGC is influential in a number of ways. Overall, while there are some dark moments, the original BGC is an action-oriented, mostly light-hearted affair.
