Clean

Boring and uninspired - the epitome of the new formulaic Hollywood flick. The silent scenes try to act as if the movie is smart, but it has no substance - only hints at style. The villain is uninspired and unconvincing too, and there are poor side characters galore. The interracial elements once again, as seen mostly in Hollywood nowadays, miss rather than hit. Such things should be written as an element of the story or as character levers, not just as ticking the diversity checkboxes.

After long stretches of boredom the movie exits on a firestorm of gunfire and mayhem. I was not entirely enjoying it, but the ending helped to partially satisfy me. Tons of atmosphere, and usually that's a good thing, but this one is a little too slow and a little too obfuscated in the beginning. I also got quite tired of the preachy narration. Worthwhile, but only just.

Definitely a little too Taxi Driver/John Wick and not very original, but I gotta admit, Brody never fails. He manages to make even what could be the most boring scenes somehow fascinating; even at his most tedious moments, you want to know where his character's going. Sadly, nowhere new or exciting, but the movie has good drama and action, though it really lacks character development and the editing gets weird in a lot of places. The atmosphere steals the show,
