I enjoyed this movie. The whole is better than the sum of it's parts. Evan Peters was marvelous. He was vulnerable, honorable, ambitious, a little desperate and thoroughly likeable. Barkhad Abdi was also good as his translator. Despite its sometimes slow pace, I was entirely engaged. Pacino and Griffith basically gave cameo appearances. The movie ends with a good message, but the journey is where all the magic happened.

I guess it was okay, but I felt like it ended out of nowhere. It was slowly building up to something then suddenly it was over.

I enjoyed this film. Not only is it extremely informative about its subject almost to the degree of a strict documentary, but it's also very entertaining. If you're sincerely interested in the subject, be prepared, as there is a lot of information to take in, but it's also not overwhelming. The film itself is very well crafted, acted, written, and edited. Peters and Abdi were perfectly cast as they truly bring this story to life. Almost like Lord of War meets Last King of Scotland.
