I know nothing about the conflict in Georgia in 1992 and I appreciate that this movie is an effective window into that time period but overall, despite some positives, I was mostly lukewarm, though I err on the side of "you should watch it, it is good". It's definitely going for the realist, documentary kind of feel, yet the material isn't always strong enough to keep your undivided attention. Still, Eka (played by Lika Babluani) is a very strong and sympathetic lead.

First Georgian film that I've seen and unfortunately I wasn't too impressed. It worked best for me as a window to what seemed to be an accurate portrait of the country in early 90's. Setting and themes could have allowed a much darker film but that was not the filmmakers intention and the result is surprisingly light. Documentary style gets too repetative and there's not enough meat in the script to carry the duration.

Feels a bit contrived at times (some of the acting the director really shouldn't have signed off on), but still opens a window into an interesting society.

An interesting coming-of-age film with engrossing performances from the two teenage girls in the main roles. The location also plays a big part, the depiction of the village and its townsfolk feels totally authentic. The script is well-written and well-paced. A few scenes really linger in the memory, such as the wedding dance and the girls' disputes over the gun. A satisfyingly impressive film overall.

Bittersweet tale of childhood's end, and also something of a parallel to Georgia's newfound independence, though that aspect falls flat for me. It's good, if not particularly superlative.

Filmekimi '13, Deniz Cevik ile & Filmin tek ilgimi ceken sekansi, kafkas dans sahnesiydi. keske tum film sadece bu sahneden olussaydi, zevkle izleyebilirdim. Karakterler, hikaye duzgun kurulmamis ve derdine, parmak bastigi duruma hizmet eden bir sinematografi yok.
