Kurtlar vadisi - Irak

This film copped a pasting on it's release, especially with yank audiences and especially Billy Zane & Gary Busey for acting in it. That said, there is much to recommend on this, the big budget version of a popular Turkish TV Show. The action sequences are well done (which is a must for an action flick), the subtitles only partly match what's actually being said (no swearing here thanks), the characters are sometimes over the top (like in any American action flick,Rambo anyone?). Let's go to Iraq and kill some Americans, but let's not die despite all the insistence. If they give us the opportunity, we can kill the entire American army with Güllü Erhan's rose. But they do not allow us :(

A lumpy, disorganised mess – sort of interesting as an attempt to make a dumb, brawny actioner with the U.S. as the dopey villains ala DELTA FORCE, but there’s not enough cleverness or wit here to offset the tasteless allusions to real life Iraq war atrocities which also sit uncomfortably as “rah rah” entertainment. Perhaps the film’s biggest sin is to cast Zane and Busey, give them a scene where they are going at each other, but have the whole exchange dubbed in Turkish!
