Dramatically this film delivers; the character interactions are honest and realistic as each deals with genuinely tough moments. The real surprise though is the humour. Often times when watching subtitled films the energy and fun can get sucked out in translation. Not here. All the humour in the wonderful dialogue comes across, filling out the characters and undercutting the drama as needed. As the end draws near emotions are tweaked subtly, the conclusion satisfyingly poignant.

Damn good film. It's touching with great characterizations that generate genuine connections and it also has a a lot of very successful humour that lends the film some very necessary levity.

Pacino goood as ever, not a great story though. Cute ending.

For me, the ending felt a bit tóó melodramatic, but maybe I was just hoping that the energy and plain fun of the first half would continue in some form. Still pretty good all-over.

Truelly touching and a really good movie for a Dutch one.

Takes a couple of things the "tolerant" Netherlands are proud of, and works them in a movie that does manage to make you care about the characters and it's end is genuinely touching. Three examples of Dutch toleration: Soft-drugs. Gay marriage. Euthanasia.

I expected something completely else (dl-ed wrong title), but this is not too bad. The one thing I can't stand though is the talking to the camera/audience. Once that part was over I got more engaged. Be prepared for a typical Dutch film, naked titties, sex and someone with cancer.
