Smokey and the Bandit II

Piss poor version of hixploitation provided by Burt Reynolds. OH THE HILARITY...LOOK IT'S A CONFEDERATE FLAG...AND AN ELEPHANT!!!!

This is very superficially similar to the first Smokey and the Bandit, yet somehow it's terrible this time. The director and all the characters are back, but I think this is a prime example of how important writing is. This screenplay is just awful. There are a few chuckles, but almost all of the jokes feel ridiculously forced and the dialogue feels unnatural (often just to set up the joke.) There are good car stunts, but stop after the first one. Trust me.

Why an elephant?

I like Smokey more than the Bandit. It's a hugely archetypal story (I didn't seen the last couple of scenes, but I correctly guessed them anyway), but it's funny at times and has some good stunts and shit

I don't think anyone wanted to really make this film.

Whatever charm and humor the first one had are completely missing from this sequel.

Nothing memorable in this one. Unlike the original which was tremendous.. Take a pass on this one or risk having your movie watching privileges revoked.

Also perfect for a sunday afternoon

Not even close to the original and it has the same stars. The scene in the desert is interesting with all the truck and police cars wrecked.

Poor sequal.
