THE DANGEROUS LIVES OF ALTAR BOYS offers lots to like, but mars itself with heavy-handedness which is not only inappropriate, but is poorly conceived and developed.

Hilarious, and good hearted. The Altar Boys have a great chemistry that will reflect well upon anyone who had mischievous friends back in the day.

An excellent cast keeps The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys interesting, but my expectations (& the way the film initially played out) led me to believe it was mainly a comedy. The film is a lot darker than I thought, & not in the fun comedic way. The animated portions seem straight out of a Saturday morning cartoon & are entertaining. The script involves teen romance, school pranks & trauma, but isn't particularly memorable. The ending almost seems like a cautionary tale, but fails to resonate.

Kieran Culkin has a good track record of picking his roles. Film is an excellent coming-of-age story, that forsakes the Hollywood style ending with the morose realism that really helps the film remain poignant.

Not exactly worth seeing, really just another indie movie, but some of the comic parts are cool

It's okay. It feels a little like an edgier Stand By Me for the 70's at first, but it drifted away from that after a while. I liked the idea of using the animated sequences to play out the emotions on a meta-level.

Made in my hometown. Jena Malone is cute but I could get thrown in jail for saying that.
