A bore, shot (poorly) like a parfyme commercial, staged like an interior design magazine. What is the fundamental difference of a "relationship robot" and a sex robot?

A complicated plot that includes a sophisticated female robot with human feelings and the maker of the machine struggling to deny his love for her. The plot meanders badly and ends up wasting time and losing potential. Ewan McGregor does a fine job with the flawed role. Léa Seydoux was beautiful and seemed perfect for the part. Many missed opportunities to be more grand and rewarding. It also ended too soon after things came together making the final outcome feel flat and unrewarding.

Zoe is the title character, but make no mistake that this is all about Cole and his struggles. I really like Doremus' style and keep finding his films underrated, and this was no exception.

Stories about AIs: "we program them without feelings to avoid all sort of ethical issues". This one movie: "the hell with it, it's a love story" and at first it is surprising and new. Until you realise this is a distracting ethical nightmare and no love story can fix it. I kept expecting it to pull an Ex-Machina on us, but it only gives more love and heartbreak, and more indie music. Too much of it. It almost goes in interesting ways at times, then it backtracks right away

Une romance contemporaine, avec Léa Seydoux et le magnifique Ewan McGregor, l'ambiance est charnelle et la bande-son savoureuse, de quoi passer un bon moment avec les deux acteurs. J'ai des réserves concernant l'intrigue qui laisse un goût de déjà vu déjà entendu.

Old-fashioned love story with some clunky AI stuff

Zoe might have had something profound to say about love and humanity, but anything it says gets lost behind a film that is numbingly dull. Through a muted colour palette, mumbled dialogue and blaring tracks off the indie-top-100-charts (presumably), the film illustrates that it's the lackability of being engaging rather than a low budget that breaks a film. There are a few interesting sci-fi concepts within, but Zoe consistently aims to put you to sleep before approaching them.

1680: it was wonderful. low budget but deep movie. good sci-fi without high costs. it proof the idea is most important part of good sci-fi not expensive special/visual effects .
