Advocate Kurishummoottil Mariamma is known for her rhetoric and volatile temper while in court. Mary John Kurishingal (Nafisa Ali), better known as Mary 'Teacher', a social activist and a beacon of hope to the orphans of Kochi, is murdered. Her four foster sons take it upon themselves to unearth the mystery behind their mother's murder, and with the eldest Bilal (Mammootty) leading them, work their way up the dirty side of the city, which churns with petty crime gangs, drugs and prostitution. Achuthan (Manian Pillai Raju) is in love with Nandini (Menaka), who is his cousin (maternal uncle's daughter). But his uncle K. P. Thankappan Nair (Nedumudi Venu) will only allow a person from abroad to marry her. So Achuthan pretends to leave town to go to Dubai, while really staying at a lodge in a nearby town, to trick his uncle.
Devan (Jayaram), a meek, honest farmer and the village darling, gets into trouble with the local hoodlum, Ripper (Riyaz Khan), and runs away to Pollachi with his friend Dasan (Jagathi) in tow. There he meets his look-alike Pazhani (Jayaram), who is the exact opposite of Devan in character. Upon persuasion from Dasan, Palani and Devan agree to switch places, and various comic and chaotic situations ensue.
When relatives of the wealthy and of the royal bloodline Udaya Varma (Nedumudi Venu) learn that they can get hold of his wealth only after his death, they decided to get Udaya Varma killed. One of the relatives Ravi Varma (Sreenivasan), goes to Mumbai in search of a killer for hire. There he meets an old acquaintance Jamal (Mammukoya) who introduces him to Abdullah (Mohanlal) as the prospective killer. Abdullah, who is strapped for cash, assumes the name of Ananthan to get close to Udaya Varma.

Appukuttan & Ananthan (Jagadish) are twin brothers, but exact opposites. Ananthan is a "Kalari" expert, doesn't care about his family & is a roamer. Appukuttan, in contrast, is amiable & struggles to support their family in Ananthan's absence. In another town, Swamy (Pujappura Ravi) is in needs of a toughie to get rid of his bothersome tenants & he tries to recruit Ananthan for the job, hearing of his repute. Appukuttan receives the offer letter meant for Ananthan, & decides to go posing as him.
Balan (Shankar) & Narayanankutty (Mohanlal) are best friends living in Madras. Balan constantly feeds his uncle & aunt, lies about him being rich, to be able to marry their daughter, Ammu. Narayanankutty, an auto mechanic, is a self-proclaimed playboy & claims to have many girlfriends, to impress his co-workers. All these turn against them when Balan's uncle, aunt & cousin come to visit him, and Narayanankutty claims that he and millionaire M. N. Nambiar's (Thilakan) daughter are in love.
Binoy (Ashokan), Nassar (Ganesh Kumar), Sudhir (Baiju) & Rajeev (Mahesh) are college-mates & friends who are always chasing girls, intimidating the students & causing trouble. When Binoy forcefully gets inside Anitha's (Saumya) umbrella on a rainy day to cross the road, it gets broadcast on TV. Anitha's fiancé Lalu (Saikumar) misconstrues the event & cancels their wedding. Angered at Binoy, Anitha sets out to wreck revenge on him, which was the start of a string of troubles for Binoy & friends.
After 'Nadodikkattu (1987)' and 'Pattana Pravesham (1988)', CIDs Ramdas (Mohanlal) and Vijayan (Sreenivasan) are back for another wacky adventure. After a priceless gold crown is stolen from India, Ramdas and Vijayan are sent to the USA to retrieve it. The only clues they have is a pseudonym "Paul Barber", and a piece of a torn shirt. But when Manukuttan's turn came, his friends' jokes cause things to get out of hand.
Tharashankar (K.P. Ummar) & his nephew Tharadas (Mammootty), gold smugglers, runs a racket with the support of the local fishers. Cops Rajesh (Captain Raju) & Prasad (Mohanlal) are after them. During an encounter, Tharashankar is killed by Rajesh, & in revenge, Tharashankar's son Chandru (Ravindran) & Chandru's chum Charlie (Lalu Alex) kills Rajesh. Mistaking Tharadas to be the reason for Rajesh's death, Rajesh's widow (& Tharadas's ex-lover) Thulasi (Seema) & Prasad vows to bring Tharadas down.
Bellary Raja (Mammootty), when disowned by his mother, so she could marry Rajarathnam Pillai (Saikumar), leaves town, but keeps in touch with Rajarathnam. Rajarathnam's real son, Rajaselvam (Manoj K. Jayan) & daughter Rani (Sindhu Menon) are greedy & always fighting amongst each other. Meanwhile, Rajarathnam gets framed, jailed & murdered. In his will, he makes Raja the caretaker of all his holdings for the next 25 years. Raja sets about to carry out Rajarathnam's will & to reunite his family.
When Unnikrishnan (Jayaram), although highly educated, finds it difficult to get a teaching job, he applies for the job of a private detective with a firm called Secret Files. As a trainee, he is asked to find out the details of Arundathi Nair (Rohini), the daughter of a rich businessman Ananthapadmanabhan (Sukumaran), as part of a marriage proposal investigation. Little did he know that two other trainees are also on the case - Oomen Koshy (Jagathy Sreekumar) & Premshankar (Manian Pillai Raju).
Sankaran Nair (Thilakan), a Retd. driver has 4 kids - bank employee Krishnanunni (Balachandra Menon), drama artist Preman Vadakkummuri (Sreenivasan), & students Gopu (Baiju) & Rema (Parvathi). For Krishnanunni, everything is based on money, & this mentality of his brings friction within the family. He gets into a war of words with Sankaran Nair, & demands back the INR 25,000 he spent on Rema's wedding. Sankaran Nair vows to pay back the debt, & kicks Krishnanunni out of the house.
Shyam (Mohanlal) is a playboy who, with the help of his long-suffering maid Dick Ammayi (Sukumari) & his friend Anil Kumar (Mukesh) who joins him later, juggles 3 different girlfriends who are assigned to routes on non-intersecting flight schedules - only one woman is in town at any given time. This works like a charm at the start wherein none of the ladies are aware of each other's presence in Shyam's apartment, but things start to crumble which leads to a series of funny events.
Mukundan K. Kartha (Mohanlal) lives in a small colony where there's a water shortage problem. His job has been made permanent, and he is secretly in love with this neighbor Menon's (Thikkurisi Sukumaran Nair) daughter Sumithra (Renjini). When things start to look good for Mukundan, his old college classmate Viswanath (Sreenivasan) visits him after many years. Viswanath is a con artist, who, unknown to Mukundan, takes advantage of him and the other colony dwellers, and lands Mukundan in trouble.
Ravi Kumar (Balachandra Menon), SI of Police, frequently quarrels with, but loves his wife Shobana (Shobana), whom he had married against the wishes of her rich father, Azhimathi Naraapilla (Adoor Bhasi). When Ravi meets his old college pal Dinesh (Sreenath), who is now jailed, Dinesh requests Ravi to drop by at his house every now & then to console his distraught wife. Ravi hides this matter from Shobana, afraid of her misconstruing it. But Shobana starts to suspect that something's going on.
Medical Representative Mathew Ninan Koshy (Mukesh), a self-proclaimed playboy enters into a bet with his three roommates, Bank Cashier Pavithran (Siddique), Tutorial College Lecturer Murthy (Manian Pillai Raju) & Ravi (Suresh Gopi) who runs an exporting company called Falcon Exporters, wherein each of them would point out a girl to Mathew, whom he would woo in a month's time. Mathew sets out to fulfill his bet, with hilarious & disastrous results.
P.K. Sudhakaran (Sreenivasan) comes to the village of Velliyankara as the newly appointed teacher at the new village primary school, only to find that Madhavan Ezhuthachan (Nedumudi Venu), the person who made the school possible, & who had taken Rs. 30,000 from him for the job, has died & his son Prabhakaran (Murali) is trying to block the school from opening & to strip his step-mother & step-sister from Ezhuthachan's assets. Sudhakaran decides to legally take on Prabhakaran & get his job back.
Appu & Achchu (Mammootty) are the twin sons of Ravunni (Janardanan), a ballet artist. While Appu is noisy & talkative, Achchu is forced to silence as he was born dumb. These differences resulted in hostility brewing between them & their father had to let them grow up apart. Appu grew up in Pollachi, whilst Achchu grew up with his father in Palghat & is now the main artist in his father's ballet troupe. The two brothers are still enemies, but their friends & family wishes to see them united.
Malavika (K.P.A.C. Lalitha) of the Kunnathu family has three sons - Sreedharan (Jagathi Sreekumar), Dineshan (Manian Pillai Raju) & Balachandran (Jayaram). The elder two have all girl children, which doesn't bode well with Malavika, who is obsessed with the idea of having a boy in the household. Balachandran falls in love & marries Ambika (Sudharani), but when they too get a girl child, Balachandran is forced to lie about this & pretend that his pal Pappan's (Biju Menon) boy child is his own.
Keshava Panicker (Madhu), an honest engineer, has a lot of dreams for his son Unni (Mammootty), a medical student. But when Unni teams up with four of his rich and spoiled college mates, he falls into bad ways. To support his new lifestyle, he starts stealing money from his parents & accepting bribes from his dad's acquaintances. This enrages his dad who kicks him out of the house, leaving his mother Sridevi (Srividya) & his cousin/girlfriend Parvathi (Poornima Jayaram) torn between the two men.
Bobby (Mohanlal), who was brought up by his uncle I.G. Mathews (Thilakan) after his parents died in a plane crash, was all set to marry the daughter of a family friend Chacko (K.P. Ummar), when an old flame from college, Neena (Shobana), shows up at his doorstep with a child & claims it to be his. Bobby tries to prove his innocence with the help of a co-worker Daisy, with his attempts complicated by the fact that Daisy's husband Unnunni (Jagathi) was suspecting an affair between him & Daisy.
High-court justice M.K. Menon (Thilakan) was a martinet who sentenced his own son, Marancheri Induchoodan (Mohanlal), for murder, for 6 years, although Induchoodan pleaded innocent. Returning back from jail, Induchoodan locks horns with enemies of his father - the Manappally family, who he believed framed him. In the ensuing tug of war, Manappally Pavithran (N.F. Varghese) frames M.K. Menon of killing his own illegitimate daughter Induleka (Kanaka). Induchoodan fights for his father's release.
S.P. Siddharth Mahadev (Suresh Gopi), assisted by C.I. Aravind (Krishnakumar), investigates the murder of a retired senior police officer Sathar (Rizabawa). He is later summoned by his former boss, Nambiar (Rajan P. Dev) to help find his missing daughter Meera Nambiar (Honey Rose). Nambiar also ends up killed soon after. Siddharth lands 2 suspects in Meera's case - an orphan Rahul Krishna (Bala) & an innkeeper Sankaranarayanan (Murali), but they give totally opposite accounts of what happened.
Nandu (Mohanlal), smitten with Seetha (Poornima Jayaram), seeks her hand in marriage & they get engaged. 3 days before their wedding, Nandu gets killed in a motorcycle accident, leaving Seetha devastated. Tragedy strikes again when Seetha's elder sister Nirmala (Seema) suffers a miscarriage & eventually, total paralysis. Thinking that Nirmala would never recover & her daughter Sonykutty (Shalini) would be motherless, Seetha's family pressurizes her to marry her brother-in-law Sethu (Mammootty).
Jagannathan (Mohanlal), friend of a rich businessman Nandakumar (Saikumar), buys Kanimangalam Kovilakam, a disputed ancestral home currently occupied by a girl, Unnimaya (Manju Warrier) & her surrogate father Krishna Varma (Oduvil). He starts off scaring them, but soon turns benevolent, protecting the people of Kanimangalam from the evil patriarch of the Kolappulli family, Kolappulli Appan (Narendra Prasad) & deciding to restart the defunct festival at the Kanimangalam temple, angering Appan.
When Chandri (Urvashi), Sivan's (Mammootty) sister, gets pregnant outside of marriage & seeing Sivan's anger at this, Chandri names Sivan's best friend, Chellan (Gopi), as the father & hearing this Sivan kills Chellan. Resolute on revenge, Chellan's brother Bhadran (Mohanlal) sells Chandri off to a brothel & awaits Sivan's return from the jail. But after Sivan's return, when Bhadran is stabbed by a couple of his enemies, Sivan comes to Bhadran's rescue, in spite of Bhadran's enemity towards him.
When a young girl, Devi (Suchitra), gets killed during a train journey from Trivandrum to Madras, on board the No: 20 Madras Mail train, three young men - Tony Kurishinkal (Mohanlal), Hitchcock Kanjikuzhi (Manian Pillai Raju) & Kumbalam Hari (Jagadish) - suspected of murder, go on the run from the Police, & also tries to find the real murderer. They seeks help from & gets it from movie star Mammootty (Mammootty), who also happened to be a traveler on the train, the night the girl was killed.
"Aadu" Thoma (Mohanlal), a notorious rowdy in the small town of Injimukku & his father, Chacko (Thilakan), a famed Math teacher who was felicitated by the Indian President, both hate each other & isn't on talking terms, with Thoma's mother Mary (K.P.A.C. Lalitha) & sister Jancy (Chippy), torn between them. Thoma's old childhood friend Thulasi (Urvashi) returns to town, & although Thoma gets initially irritated by her antics, he starts reforming bit by bit. However, Thoma's old foes don't let go.
Unnikrishnan (Dileep), an orphan & someone convicted as a juvenile, saves Qasim Baba's (Lal) life from a group of killers. Unnikrishnan assumes the name of Salaam as per advice from Baba & joins Baba's forces. Suleiman (Shammi Thilakan), Baba's nephew, murders Baba & puts the blame on Salaam & he gets sentenced to life. In jail, he joins up with 3 of his old pals from the juvenile home & plans to get back at Suleiman. Soon, Baba's old right-hand men also learns of Salaam's innocence & joins him.
Lal Krishna Viradiyar (Suresh Gopi), a lawyer who dispenses his own sense of justice by proving criminals to be innocent in court & later killing them secretly, takes up the case for 9 female medical students accused of murdering & dismembering a freshman student, Chinthamani Warrier (Bhavana), with the intention of freeing them & exacting his revenge later. But as the case advances, Lal Krishna learns that the accused are actually innocent & someone else is responsible for Chinthamani's death.
The story begins with Anandan, who makes a maiden trip to his native village, Sivapuram. His purpose? To make good his promise to his recently deceased mother that he would dissolve her ashes in a river near Manthrikapura, a mystical garden, and light a lamp in Sivakavu, a strange and dark place in Sivapuram. However, as soon as he lands in Sivapuram, Anandan finds out that what he heard and what he sees are two different things.
With the aim of pleasing his dearest friend, a heart patient, & giving him a memorable vacation before he returned back to America, Kaimal (Nedumudi) recruits a thief Vishnu (Mohanlal), to act as the husband of his dearest friend's daughter Kalyani (Renjini), after Kalyani was snubbed by her lover Ravi (Shanawas) on the day of their wedding. After some initial spats, Vishnu & Kalyani gets attracted to each other, but soon Kalyani learns that Vishnu has a tragic past & an even more tragic future.
To retrieve some precious diamonds which were stolen from Udaya Varma (Jagannatha Varma), Police commissioner Samuel (C.I. Paul) devises a plan to fake Udaya Varma's death & recruits Ramadas (Raju) as a fake assassin. The plan goes through, but later Samuel gets killed, making Ramadas a fugitive. Meanwhile, Ramadas's girlfriend Shoba's (Menaka) brother Venugopal (Mohanlal) is on the run from David Antony Fernandez (Captain Raju), a crook who believes Venugopal knows the location of the diamonds.
Sivaprasad aka Sivan (Mohanlal), a communist party worker, gets appointed as the chairman of the Devaswom Board, after being nominated by party leader Shekaran (Soman). When the head priest of the temple Parameshwaran Namboothiri (Thikkurisi ) goes against their corrupt ways, Sivan enlists the help of his best friend Vasu (Jayaram) to frame the priest, after which the priest commits suicide in humiliation. A guilty Vasu turns against the temple corruption causing friction between him & Sivan.
Anjana (Khushboo), the forsook daughter of famous politico Vishwanatha Menon (Madhu), comes to him demanding that he recognize her & her mother Prabhadevi (K.R. Vijaya). Hearing about this, Vishwanatha Menon's adopted son Devan (Ganesh Kumar) recruits don Chandrasenan (Narendra Prasad) to kill Anjana. Not knowing this, Chandrasenan's younger brother Vishnu (Suresh Gopi), another toughie, had already promised to protect Anjana. Both brothers, adamant to keep their word, turns against each other.
Hariharan, a Retd. Intelligence Officer who runs a security agency, is approached by Latha (Rekha) to find out a woman named Raji (Ragini) who was blackmailing her, threatening to reveal secrets about her father. Soon, Raji is found dead & CI Peter (Lalu Alex) began questioning Hariharan, who had been asking around for Raji. Later, Latha's troubler cousin Suresh (Vijayaraghavan), who was colluding before with Raji, is also found dead. Hariharan tries to unravel the secrets behind both murders.
Govindankutty (Mohanlal) grew up hearing people call him a bastard & nursed intense hate towards his father, a Tamilian who forsook his mother Gauri (Bharathi) when she was pregnant & carried a knife with him to kill his father, should he ever find him. Anantha Subramaniam (Shivaji Ganesan) arrives in the village as the new contractor who leased the village's sand quarry. Govindankutty seeks a job with Subramaniam, without knowing that Subramaniam is his father he had been seeking all his life.
Arun (Indrajith) & his 2 relations Mahindran (Manoj K. Jayan) & Ganeshan (Shammi), injects Ashwathy (Bhavana), key witness to a murder & lawyer Ramesh Nambiar's (Mammootty) sister, with morphia & rapes her. Karthik (Dileep), Ashwathy's lover & Devan's (Mohanlal) brother, tries to catch them but gets killed. Antony Punnekadan IPS (Suresh Gopi), in charge of the case, arrests Arun but is saved by Ramesh, unaware of what Arun did to his sister. An enraged Devan tries to avenge his brother's death.
Akbar Ahmed aka "Akki" (Prithviraj) is a young director who achieved success with his debut movie "Brothers". For his next venture, he chooses to tell the tale of the reigning superstar of Malayalam cinema Ajay Chandran (Anoop Menon), & his long forgotten wife & star of yesteryear Malavika (Priyamani). Hearing of Akki's plans, Ajay tries to prevent him from digging into his past, but a determined Akki goes forward, & seeks out Malavika, now a cancer patient & on her death bed, & brings her home.
3 friends - Rajendran (Raju), his cousin Prathapan (Mukesh), & Jnaneshwaran (Jagathi) - stumble upon a corpse near a creek. Afraid of the cops blaming them, they trick a boater, Kannan (T.G. Ravi), to transport the corpse, saying it was a drunk person. Kannan, learning the truth, buries it & runs away. Meanwhile, Rajendran's father Narayanan (Bahadur) is hellbent on getting him married to his friend's loony daughter Shanthi, while Rajendran tries to unite with his lover, Raji (Saleema).
Devanarayanan (Mohanlal), a Brahmin priest, gets framed & jailed for theft by Arumukhan (M.G. Soman) & his coterie. After his release, Devan goes to Mumbai where he grows in the Mumbai underworld, under Don Karim (Goga Kapoor). After a 2nd jail sentence, Devan gives up crime & with money given by Karim, returns to his home town in Kerala to regain his ancestral home. There, Devan finds his family in ruins. He teams up with his old pal & politician Karunan (Sreenivasan) to get back at Arumukhan.
Madhavan Nair (Thilakan), a cabby, & his wife Bharathi (Kaviyoor Ponnamma), have 4 children - Prasad (Manian Pillai Raju), Santhosh (Baiju), Urmila (Renuka) & Geetha (Urvashi). Being forced out of their rented house by their landlord Kikkili (Meena), Madhavan is forced to buy some land & build a house of their own. However, at the time of their need, all their ungrateful children & their spouses, except for Geetha, turn their backs on Madhavan & Bharathi, leaving them to fend for their own.
After the eccentric & genius filmmaker Siddharthan (Mohanlal) dies in mysterious circumstances, his son Aadi (Anoop Menon), returns years later from California to relive the memories of his father. After meeting with a few of Siddarthan's old friends, Aadi becomes convinced that his dad was killed, & that it was not a suicide as he had originally thought. Aadi sets out to unravel the mystery that was his father & to seek out his killer.
Karanan (Mammootty), a boater, gets jailed for 5 years for hacking some goons while protecting his pal Kumaran (Vincent). Upon his release, he returns to the harbor to find that Kumaran has taken his girl Madhavi (Menaka) & his boat & is a bigwig now. Karanan takes to boozing & petty smuggling, & later befriends 2 people whom he takes under his wings - a lassie Devayani (Seema) who ran away from her tart sister & pimp brother-in-law & Gopi (Mohanlal), a grad in search of the man who cheated him.
Malayala Shabdam daily, owned by the Ezhuthupura Veedu family whose matriarch is famous poetess Vishwalaksmi Thampuratti (Rohini Hattangadi), is in trouble with the newly appointed manager Anantharaman (Ratheesh) slowly arrogating it, using the real owner Rama Varma (Devan) as a puppet. Rama Varma's younger brother Ravi Varma aka Aniyan (Mohanlal) vows to win back the paper by hook or crook, & sets out to be rich with the help of ex-goon Pareed (Captain Raju) & takes to smuggling illicit liquor.

They initially get jobs at his factory, & later Shankar gets appointed as his driver. Shankar & Nair's daughter Sindu fall in love, but Nair wanted to marry her off to his nephew from Bombay, Gopi (Sreenath). Gopi locks horns with Shankar, over Sindu.

Knowing that it was Rahim Haji's rival Narendra Shetty who was probably behind the murder, Sarkar investigates, but finds it difficult to procure solid evidence against Shetty. In the process, Jerry & Ravi starts outdoing & double-crossing each other to get the proceeds for oneself.

While the faithful Mukundan has a very suspicious Krishnendu (Bhavana) as his wife, playboy Rahul has a very trusting wife Shreya (Samvrutha Sunil). Jayan), when Swaminathan opposed their plans to modernize Midhilapuri.
Gopalakrishnan (Jagadish), a popular paperboy from the Hindustan slums, becomes the Home Minister of Kerala in a political move by politico Kunjikannan Nambiar (Narendra Prasad). However, when after taking office, Gopalakrishnan fails to oblige Nambiar, Nambiar decides to take him out by engineering a communal unrest in the Hindustan slums & holding Gopalakrishnan responsible for failing to prevent it.

Village simple Kocherukkan (Jayasurya) elopes with his childhood sweetie Malli (Mythili), a maid at the house of wealthy Chandrasekhara Vazhunnor (Saikumar), & they stay with their pal Murugan (Sudheesh) to eke out a living. 60 years after a lass of the Aalathoor Thekkemadam manor, Kuttimani (Kumari Joemol), was putatively killed by her jealous lover Krishnanunni (Kunchako Boban), & after which he was hanged, the current patriarch, Valiyathan (Thilakan), looks to restart a defunct religious rite. However, things get edgy after it started to seem like the old lovers have reincarnated as Gayathri (Kumari Joemol), a young girl of the current generation & Manu (Kunchako Boban), the caretaker's son, & they fall in love.
Kaveri (Pramila), who runs a tea stall in a remote village seeks out a new lover in vagabond hunter Maruthu (Nedumudi Venu) to accept the paternity of her illicit pregnancy. The 3 unlikely musketeers band together to dig up Nandu's story to see why he escaped.

The cops had long suspected that Zachariah had committed the double murder & absconded, & now it appeared that Zachariah was back & was killing off the rest of his friends.
