Radio comedian Joe Penner, of "You Naaassty Man!" fame, was very much an acquired taste in 1938, and even more so when seen today. Nevertheless, such Penner movie vehicles as I'm From the City never failed to make a tidy profit for RKO Radio Pictures. In this one, the star plays a circus bareback rider who happens to be deathly afraid of horses. Crucial events in the lives of many people occur on the same night in the same place.

The training and duties of a policewoman, with Dale Kent (Peggy Knudsen) and Madge Walker (Lynn Roberts) as a pair of rookies bridling at being assigned desk jobs and bending police rules in order to get more exciting assignments, They gain some credits when they prevent a suicide attempt by Virginia Evans (Marcia Mae Jones) and effect her reunion with her husband.

This laudable RKO programmer casts Chester Morris as a fearless pilot whose misdeeds have exiled him to a remote flying field in the Andes mountains. Morris and his fellow pilots are all exiles of sorts, and as such are willing to take on the near-suicidal task of flying supplies to miners in the most treacherous mountain ranges. The all-male atmosphere is disrupted when young air ace Van Heflin shows up with his wife Whitney Bourne. (allrovi.com)
