Ant-Man (2015) - Rated 03 Jan 2016
Ant-Man charms the audience into forgetting the depressing fact that the real universe will end before the Marvel one does.

Monsters University (2013) - Rated 02 Jan 2016
Monsters University doesn't shoot as high as the original, and it doesn't get close to Pixar's best, but it's a funny and warm film. There are worse ways to spend 90 minutes than with Mike and Sulley.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) - Rated 02 Jan 2016
This is a weak step forward for the franchise, and probably the film no-one remembers or discusses much at all.

Iron Man (2008) - Rated 28 Dec 2015
There are more holes in the plot than Swiss cheese, but this is still the spectacular, entertaining romp it was when it first came out.

Bad Santa (2003) - Rated 27 Dec 2015
Not a great film by any means but Bad Santa never fails to strike a chord with me. Your mileage may vary.

Die Hard (1988) - Rated 21 Dec 2015
It's not easy to take a simple idea and execute it well, but Die Hard shows that with carefully orchestrated action scenes and slick screen writing one can achieve greatness without having to stray from a central story. Makes a very difficult job look easy.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) - Rated 20 Dec 2015
The Force Awakens stands as proof that Hollywood still has some of the old crowd-pleasing magic left in it, even as it drowns in a slew of bland super heros.

The Raid 2 (2014) - Rated 16 Dec 2015
The Raid 2 is a slow and menacing film, punctuated by moments of brief, explosive action. It's a daring break from its prequel but yet another successful martial arts endeavour from Gareth Evans.

The Raid: Redemption (2012) - Rated 13 Dec 2015
Evans is a little transparent when he tries to introduce some stakes to the story, but anything resembling cruft quickly takes a back seat to what a is a truly awesome series of action scenes.
