As a pitch-black parody of the typical Christmas movie, it confuses abundant profanity and fucking and cynicism with darkness and bite. As a corrective to the typical Christmas schmaltz, it undermines itself with an ending that seeks to absolve its bastard anti-hero and provide uplift.

A twisted take on yuletide cheer that manages to have it both ways: it celebrates the holiday season by pooing on it. Thornton is sleaze personified as the drunken, degenerate, whore humping Santa who robs malls for a living with his foul mouthed pint sized 'friend'. Ritter is hilarious as a timid mall manager, while Mac is equally amusing as a shady security chief with a penchant for blackmail. What makes the film work ultimately is its complete disregard for good taste.

It's hilarious. The idea of a mall Santa this horrible is pretty great (although one wonders how he doesn't get fired). The overall plot is mediocre (Thorton and Cox are con men who steal from the malls they work at every year), but there are enough laughs to keep you watching. At the end it turns out to be a nice little redemption story, and certainly worth the watch.

Terribly crass without a protagonist you can like and damn is it hilarious. Billy Bob Thornton plays his seedy asshole role to perfection and would certainly reprise this character type in more comedies. John Ritter's supporting (and final) role is tear inducingly funny.

The fat kid's t-shirt is pretty funny, but really, I don't get what all the love for this movie is about. There's a lot of swearing. Hilarious? There are funny bits and all, but I guess this movie loses points for me because it was built up to be a lot more than what it is - a standard crude comedy.

He's Santa, and he's bad. Get it? You will after 95 minutes of having it beaten into you. I won't say I didn't laugh... at some points, I laughed damn hard. But it wore out quickly while the movie trudged on towards its somewhat predictable conclusion. Could have used more Bernie Mac.

A Christmas movie for those of us who despise the usual saccharine sweet crap that is replayed year after year. Rude, crude and truly quite funny, makes this a good comedy any time. Thornton really plays the role to a 't' and the supporting cast are good as well.

The comedy is pretty insufferable; it's mostly lambasting Thornton's character for being an asshole and fulfilling the typical tropes of 00's comedy in that it believes being as crude as possible is the height of hilarity. But outside that, the movie is just constantly mean-spirited in a way that perhaps is subverting the conventions of Christmas films but not in a way that's particularly thoughtful or engaging; rather, it just comes across as shallow derogatory sophistry at best.

Gut-splitting, heaving, hurt ribs comedy. Apt title all the way. This is movie with almost no taste, unless we acknowledge that vulgar humor is an acquired one. Endlessly quotable and memorable scenes. The drunken destruction of the plastic reindeer prop in front of the frightened children is one of the funniest scenes I've ever seen. Also love his growing frustration with the kid. Billy Bob plays a heartless drunk beautifully. As you can guess, plot is expendable. Just LOL situations.

I remember being surprised by how much I actually enjoyed this movie when I first sat down to watch it about 6 years after it's release. Now, 2 years later, I can't really recall what was so good about it. I'll go with my gut and say that it's funny and entertaining, but this isn't getting a terribly high score because no specific scenes really stand out.

There is nothing better in this world than watching Billy Bob Thornton get plastered on booze and then dress up like Santa Claus only to get his lap pissed on by adolescent children in a shopping-mall during the day and screwing women and robbing places blind at night. A great comedy that fits the Scrooge-like mentality some have of the Christmas season.

Profane, nasty, mean, bitter, savage, cruel, and hilarious. Billy Bob Thorton rocks. It's a Christmas comedy of the most twisted, hilariously dark and utterly depraved kind, and a great companion piece to Die Hard for a twisted Christmas film festival.

This movie is awesome. It's a comedy that's also very dark in how it displays how shitty someone's life can be. I think that's what Funny People tried to do, but where that failed, this succeeds greatly. Evidently, the original Pasadena screening was even more depressing that it already is (I imagine it ended about three minutes earlier), so I wonder if there's a copy of that floating around somewhere.

Bad Santa. Even worse film. The film doesn't really elaborate on its title. There is probably about 20 minutes of plot, very little happens. I assume its meant to be funny, but this is a film that thinks just swearing, drinking, smoking, fighting and having sex is inherently funny. There's no context or shock added to any of it to actually make it funny. Imagine always sunny but with everything that makes that so funny removed. Billy Bob is quite good, if only he had decent comedic writing.

I was so pleasantly surprised when I saw this! Not because of the two beautiful strangers that sat on each side of me in the theater, but just the unappealing nature of the drunkard St. Nick threw me into a frenzied of stomach wrenching laughs and loathsome jeers. The fat kid was excellent. Or the "talking walnut" as he referred to himself ha ha ha.
