80 55% Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"Though this film is lacking in the whole story department, the visuals are enough to suck you in, not to mention an entertaining performance from Gwyneth Paltrow and surprise cameo from the late Sir Laurence Olivier. The final frame of this film is also one of the most memorable of recent memory."
80 55% Varsity Blues (1999) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"One of the better teen flicks from the late-90's that dominated the multiplexes on a weekly basis. This one has a lot of heart and some damn fine execution, especially a scene chewing Jon Voight as the villainous head coach. It also introduced the world to actors like Ali Larter, Paul Walker, and Amy Smart. If the ending of this film doesn't get you pumped up for something, then you just don't have adrenal glands."
75 35% Jurassic Park III (2001) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"Packs a few more thrills and chills than the unfortunate sequel, but this is one franchise that needs to be put to rest. How much more can you really do with these dinosaurs before it becomes redundant and unwatchable?"
30 15% Saw II (2005) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"Yet another pointless sequel to a mediocre original. This film is the original film, with new actors and worse set-ups. They even added the whole Lifetime scenario with the killer having terminal cancer. This film is the perfect example of why motion pictures today lack all creativity and substance."
95 95% Kingpin (1996) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"One of the ten greatest comedies of all-time, this film is the best the Farrelly Brothers have yet to give us. Woody Harrelson and Randy Quaid are perfectly cast, with Bill Murray delivering the kind of supporting performance most never dream about. Every gag hits the mark and I still bust a gut everytime I see it."
80 55% Green Street Hooligans (2005) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"Frodo is all grown up and kicking the crap out of people with his soccer hooligan friends. This film was non-stop action and non-stop entertainment, and it gives you plenty of eye candy with the oh so adorable Elijah Wood and Charlie Hunnam."
45 25% Ladder 49 (2004) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"Give me a break -- you don't get much sappier and more melodramatic that this ridiculous weeper about the heroic lives of firemen. I have already seen the definitive fireman movie -- "Backdraft" -- and there was no chance Joaquin Phoenix and John Travolta were going to top it. This film was a supreme letdown."
90 85% Gosford Park (2001) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"A masterful suspense/thriller from the master of the ensemble casts, Mr. Robert Altman. The cast here is phenomenal, with the highlights being Helen Mirren, Maggie Smith, and the always underrated Bob Balaban. Eveyone plays their part extemely well and this film turned into a true classic of the genre."
5% Baby Geniuses (1999) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"What else can be said about this except it is one of the worst films in the history of cinema. Miserable. Awful. Yick."
85 75% Thumbsucker (2005) - Rated 14 Aug 2007
"A very bizarre, but very enjoyable indie flick about one young man coming of age. Lou Pucci is very strong in his first leading role, and supporting performances from Tilda Swinton and Keanu Reeves help elevate this film above your typical indie sleeper."
