"always appreciate it when a film lets you know in the first couple of minutes that you need to stop watching it if you're not into hate-watch. I did not heed that advice this time and can't believe a film could be this vapid- not a single interesting character, line, storyline, scene... there are bits that could be interesting here but everything is so streamlined, it's like eating a leftover slice of a frozen pizza you cooked two days ago."

"I've avoided this film for so long thinking it would be absolutely obnoxious but boy was I wrong. this is really one of the nicest example of the genre- just a great comfort watch and it's incredible how british (in a surprisingly good way) this movie is."
60 40% The Courier (2020) - Nov 28, 2022
"good production design, decent performances, and nice cinematography... but as the poster suggests it's just a run of the mill espionage drama (even though I appreciate they don't use *accented english* to avoid subtitles). my issue with these kind of films is that the genre requires either some sort of understanding of political philosophy or a key idea/emotion to foreground within the story, and when you don't do that (or just go for cheesy "yay friendship) there's nothing thrilling."
80 80% The Hunt (2012) - Nov 23, 2022
"the social commentary presented by what one goes through is skillfully done here. beautifully shot film telling a compelling story -and the fact that the narrative does not for easy solutions for anything is what makes this film great. marking the seeming resolve of the characters and the scar that the event left behind with social gatherings like christmas and hunting tradition is just a chef's kiss."
