"I enjoyed watching this movie despite all the controversies around it. Very surprised at how hilarious it was, and you can see the great chemistry between the two main characters. "
80 53% Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) - Feb 18, 2019
"I enjoyed watching this Apes movie as much as I did watching the first one. I thought the acting/portrayal of Caesar to be extremely well done and even Koba's character to be believable, even if he turned a little one-dimensional in the last third of the movie. Like the first movie, though, there was time spent developing side characters that didn't end up mattering, like the relationship between the girlfriend and the older son. I think that just took time away from developing the main plot."
80 53% North Face (2008) - Feb 18, 2019
"Good god, I can't imagine why people risk their lives like these climbers risked theirs. So much drama packed into the 2 hours. Didn't like the girl reporter and wish they wrote the story from the 2 main climbers' perspective. Crazy to learn that this is based on a true event."
80 53% Moonlight (2016) - Feb 18, 2019
"Growing up as an introvert, surrounded by bullies at school and even at home, it was hard not to feel sorry for Chiron every step of his growing up story. Moonlight touches everything from childhood bullying, drugs in the family, and coming of age and sexuality. This was a fantastic movie for building out a character, but the pace was slow, and I caught myself looking at my watch a few times. The acting was great by the entire cast, and I see why it deserves all the Oscars it won that year."
85 67% Dunkirk (2017) - Feb 18, 2019
"A different kind of war movie than others I've seen. It was different in the sense that it was more focused on the timeline of events instead of spending time building out a character(s) to you fall in love with and root for. (Well, sure it does a little of that.) Took me a little while to get the timelines shifting, but when you get it, that was cool to see how the timelines converge."
80 53% Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018) - Feb 18, 2019
"I enjoyed Wreck-It Ralph 2 quite a bit, and appreciated the little nuggets of adult humor nestled throughout the movie. (Disney Princesses - rock on!) While I enjoyed the adult humor, the plot was still a little generic if not just one to make you feel good. I'd still rewatch this. "
50 11% The Proposition (2005) - Sep 21, 2018
"Meh... this movie is too generic for me. There were some beautiful landscape shots but ... what was this about again?"
75 39% Snowpiercer (2014) - Sep 21, 2018
"The most interesting aspect of the film to me was the idea of how humans behave in a vacuum where your social status has been predetermined at birth and it is nearly impossible to get out of it given the circumstances of said vacuum. Captain America was rather boring and plays the same Marvel superhero with no harm coming to him. I think the plot set up is good, but the actual story line was a bit lackluster for me, particularly the second half of the movie."
60 15% Cowboys & Aliens (2011) - Sep 21, 2018
"What the heck is going on.... While I never thought of it before, I guess, sure, why not have aliens invade us in the 18th century? Alien invasion doesn't have to always happen in the 2030s! But... asides from that interesting timing, please, let's get Daniel Craig out of his silly costume."
95 90% Shutter Island (2010) - Sep 21, 2018
"I've watched this a second time now and this movie is really good. It's not really a mystery but more of suspenseful psychological thriller. The more you learn, the more complicated the plot gets! I recall being slightly confused the first time I watched it, until the end when things get explained. The spotlight is really on DiCaprio, although the rest of the supporting cast was also good. It has creepy elements, but not overly so."
