The Shawshank Redemption (1994) - Rated 29 Aug 2008
A sleeper this one, although I did see and did enjoy it on first release way back in January 1995. As the years go by, it seems to get better and better. Tim Robbins confirmed himself as one of the 90's finest after Bob Altman's The Player & Short Cuts and his own Bob Roberts and with Morgan Freeman coming off his Oscar for Unforgiven, it couldn't really fail and didn't. It remains the most enjoyable film adapted from a Stephen King novel.

Ron Howard's finest movie and one of Tom Hank's career highlights is the best creation of life in Space to date! Excellent!

Good Will Hunting (1997) - Rated 29 Aug 2008
Matt Damon and Ben Afflick are excellent, in this enjoyable movie. It was given the first ever 5 star rating by The Guardian, which is why i went to see it, it isn't quite that good!

Barton Fink (1991) - Rated 29 Aug 2008
Bizarre film, as you might expect from The Coen Brothers! However John Goodman and John Turrito are perfectly cast and it is well worth a look!

Back to the Future (1985) - Rated 29 Aug 2008
One of the most enjoyable films of perhaps cinema's worst decade, the eighties! Michael J Fox gives the performance of a lifetime as Marty McFly, if you enjoyed it check out part III, avoid part II

Psycho (1998) - Rated 29 Aug 2008
A word of warning, DO NOT RE-MAKE A HITCHCOCK FILM! First of all Anne Heche is a lesbian, so she is not going to be as sexy as Janet Leigh. Julianne Moore adds a little class to the whole tragic affair!

Titanic (1997) - Rated 29 Aug 2008
The biggest grossing film of all time turns out to be something of a letdown, at least in the script and love departments. As a spectacle it really couldn't be bettered, but the best film of the year was LA Confidential, so this did not deserve to take home 10 oscars and if you want a good Titanic film, check out A Night To Remember.

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) - Rated 29 Aug 2008
Flash Gordon rides again, but with timing so right, it became a phenemon and still is. It really doesn't get any better than this. A strong condender for the greatest film of my lifetime. I can watch it in whatever version and never get bored of it. The original trilogy still rules!

Dated baby comedy, it brought Travolta back, before Pulp Fiction was the real comeback!

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) - Rated 29 Aug 2008
One of Ang Lee's best looking films and brought him to Hollywood (we got two movies, one good (Ride With The Devil) and one not so good (the Hulk) before Brokeback Mountain) and it probably opened the door to Eastern Cinema for an awful lot of people
