I had this in my library for a while, and I was never too much into the Kenshin series, so I was shocked to discover 2/3 through that the dark and violent protagonist was the same bubbly character from the anime! The "seduction" scene was quite unsettling to me -- not sure if it was intended to be that way. I didn't get a good sense of what the film was trying to say -- the themes were all over the place, but I don't think that's a fault of the film per se. The actors were great -- almost hard to believe they're from our time. I particularly commend the sound design, which was used to great and unexpected effect in several scenes. The cinematography was top-notch as well. My only criticism is that it's not entirely captivating, but perhaps that has more to do with the style.
Criticker.com - the Best Film Recommendations on the Net!

The film looks great, and the CGI isn't particularly distracting like in many other films. Love all the mechanical stuff.
