I was hoping for more of a, well, actual history. It's actually a bunch of actors and directors talking about how awesome it is to win an Oscar. This would be fine if it was more in depth, but it's just emptily self-congratulatory. I love Hollywood anecdotes, but if you don't, there's really nothing here.

I'm glad this wasn't considered for an Oscar because we would've been trapped in some "Who's on First" shtick hellscape we still wouldn't have recovered from.

A navel-gazing, self-congratulatory film about a navel-gazing, self-congratulatory event. It only glances at more substantial ideas, like political ideologies that pervade Hollywood, or how competition undermines the celebration of art. There are some amusing anecdotes, and the footage of older ceremonies is interesting to watch.

Not really informative at all, just full of mediocre anecdotes. I wish there was more history of the Oscars in here -- how certain categories were added, etc, etc. Instead, it was a very basic overview of the Oscars and a lot of actors talking about how cool it is to win an Oscar. Even still, I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it a bit.

A vapid, self-aggrandizing propaganda piece marketing an event that is ultimately, a vapid, self-aggrandizing marketing event. How Meta.

A bit light on content but still entertaining.

I Really put me in the mood for the Oscars, but I would rather have seen longer scenes that these mere montages of "thank yous" or people crying, etc. Use few good and fun and extreme examples, don't show all people that ever won an Oscar for one second each!
