When you reshoot the scenes from the animation, people say "Why bother!".. When you change things they say "That's blasphemy!!".. so, dear producers, why bother? This is a fight you can never ever win. Just make a sequel to Aang's story. Take some hints from the creators and make the next step.. not the Korra... never the Korra.. stay on Aang. You could finally please fans.

Critics be damned! This captures the soul of the original series as well as can be expected, with actors who, while rough around the edges, are full of purity and emotion. Some of the dialogue may be too expositional, making a few scenes somewhat cringe, but explicit introspection happens to be an integral part of ATLA. I had a much tougher time with some of the CGI. Overall, the experience is enveloping, thoughtful, hopeful and promising.

Good but not a perfect Adaption. Aang never trained Water Bending and the Gang Dynamik is Not there for me yet. Good and weird Changes. Still worth watching

Don’t think I can watch more than 70% of the first episode… One good thing about it though is that it makes me want to revisit the original show, where there is actual story and characters.

review for the first episode which is the only one I'll be watching 'cause this sucks: A formulaic, lifeless, and generic ensemble of nothingness. The script is so incredibly bad I genuinely don't get how it got greenlit, it's a bunch of exposition and nothing else. The performances were also offensively bad, especially that of the lead; not to be mean to the kid but he's just... yeah. Everyone was bad though. The visuals were pretty now and then but perpetually shallow and even messy at times.

While better than the M. Night Shyamalan directed mess of an adaptation, they just got so much wrong and condensed way too much in this series for it to be good.

I can't express how happy it made me, they did it with a lot of respect for the original series, you can see that there is love, and the actors do it incredible, I would like it to be longer because the story and the deep messages of the series are not can be projected in only 8 chapters

Solves a lot of the problems I have with the animated version. It does a better job of portraying emotional and personality roundedness to the characters, showing the stakes, and overall storytelling (the animated version is brought down by all unnecessary side quests and being rushed at crucial points concerning climaxes and/or where emphasis is needed to emotionally connect audiences to characters).

I don't have much history with the Airbender, but it grew on me. Didn't see the animation series it's based on, so I wasn't sure I'd like it and at first I wasn't sure what to make of it. But half-way through I cared about the characters and the adventure felt big enough. Ended up a satisfying travel into a fantasy world.

A passable sort of cliffs notes take on the original (strangely, since it’s actually about the same runtime as the original season 1 so it’s weird how it feels rushed). It’s nice they can actually say kill die etc and show death, and the visuals & effects are nice. Other than that it’s kind of clunkily written, the Gaang chemistry is not quite there and it’s weird how Aang and Zuko seem to meet like every five minutes. Worldbuilding would seem fantastic IF this was a brand new original series.

Guess what? Nobody ever adapted the animated ATLA into live action. None of that ever happened. Blechh.

A perfect example of how *not* to make a TV show in almost every conceivable way

Had low expectation coming in. First episode was a surprise... quality CGI and unexpected rated R content. Pretty much a movie quality episode. But the show becomes less and less exciting to watch: it's filled with excessive exposition dialogue... and redundancy words of friendship and responsibility. Instead of character expression... it's more script expression. Uncle Iroh is still the best character... but even he couldn't escape the unnatural exposition dialogue lmaooo
