A genuinely world-class neo-noir that brings to life the glamour, decay and foreboding of the late-stage Weimar Republic. The male lead is a damaged mess, but charismatic in his own way - the female lead is the ultimate flapper, and the slow-burn background romance development between them is an endearing part of the show that brings some light to the corruption and extremism they both face.

I guess every generation gets the Berlin Alexanderplatz that they deserve... although, this is really more like Von Trier's Europa for idiots, isn't it?

Rated after 4 seasons. Set after World War I, the series looks fabulous - scenography, costumes and music are a class in itself. Particularly noteworthy is the MEUTE OST from 4th season - the combination of the 1920s and 2020s music works great. The main intrigue works well, as well as many side threads (such as the episode with a round-the-clock dance competition!) although quite often actions are illogical. It is visible especially at the end of S4. Liv Lisa Fries and others give great perf.

I saw 4 season in a row. It was wonderful. Good combination of all i love, history, mystery, romance chemistry and gangstery!

Storyline jumps around too much for my taste. Characters are bland and unlikable. (3 episodes)

It was off to a very promising start. But because several people told me that the first season didn't stick the landing, I chose to simply move on to other shows not even halfway into it. Pretty shallow and disloyal of me, I guess. (3 episodes)

Solid drama filled with all sorts of betrayal, murder, and political intrigue. Excellent cast, exceptional performances, and superb production.

An above average noirish period crime/espionage drama that manages to be quite grounded in the byzantine politics of Weimar era Germany; except it also touches on the occult, hypnotism and mesmerism as well. I love the art deco production design, the deeply shadowed lighting, and the doom cadenced plot.
