Better Things

[through Season 5] Early seasons were tonally similar to Louie, but trading formal experimentation to wonderfully raw character drama. That was excellent, but in the later seasons, it has become even better, playing with its form and diving into fascinatingly personal topics.

Obviously feels a lot like Louie, with his heavy involvement in the writing, but Adlon more than handles her side of things. The entire cast is solid and although it's a bit heavy on the non-dialogue set to sentimental music, it's still clever and raw.

You say the magic's gone, well, I'm not a magician. You say the spark's gone, well, get an electrician. You say TV shows are shit, well, just watch Better Things, cos that shit's f-ing lit.

OK but conversations about money troubles inside giant mansions are hard for us plebs to empathise with.

Opening of S01: 75. Finish S01: 80. Well into S02: 85 They ARE their roles, it's so authentic, I feel I know them. A comedy with lots of emotional intelligence.

Totally different than Louie

Very good.
