What I like about this show is that it displays a lot of different ways people can make dishes out of random ingredients which is a testament to just how broad the culinary arts are. Granted, the standards that the judges run on aren't coherent and I'm never really certain as to what exactly is supposed to be the perfect dish by their standards, there is at least an attempt to clarify why a dish failed.

It just gets boring if you see too many episodes.

I'm impressed by the competitors, but I could never get in to this show. I just don't understand the appeal of watching cooking shows, if I can't taste the food I'll never be able to get much out of it. This is definitely the best of the many cooking shows I've watched, though.

This is the perfect show to have on in the background. Every time you look up somebody is trying to turn gummy bears or something like that into a steak glaze, but it wastes enough time in the generic cooking show shots of pans and people running around that it doesn't require all your attention. Also, as with many cooking competitions, its given me some cool ideas I barely manage to mediocrely recreate.

You get annoyed with some of the judges but it really displays a unique talent that I could never do. When the judges are like why did you do X when you could've done X you want to just scream in their faces that they only had 30 minutes to transform mystery ingredients into an edible meal.
