The style of comedy in interviews is very Sacha Baron Cohen but with far more comedic deadpan. The scripted parts land on more conventional British mockery that leans too much on topical references which are far less funny than the interview stuff. I think it lacks much overlaying commentary the way Cohen's stuff does but as a mockery of BBC style documentaries it's a goddamn holler. The bit where Cunk roasts a Van Gogh art piece had me fucking rolling.

This won't be for everyone, but Philomena Cunk is exactly my brand of humor. Her deadpan delivery throughout the entire series as experts try to figure out if they are being pranked or not is incredible, but the editing and B-roll in this special also does a lot of the heavy lifting. I lost it when they started to roll funny pet clips as an expert eloquently waxed poetic about the meaning of life.

More fantastic British humor from the brilliant and deadpan Diane Morgan. The straight-up interviews and Cunk's transitional monologues remain the highlight. Some of the other, overly scripted parts do fall short, same as they do in Sacha Barron Cohen's stuff.

"Can I call you Brian or do you prefer Cox?"

Wasn't too familiar with the Cunk character, maybe saw her on a Charlie Booker special, but this was hilarious. About as good as British humor can get.

Not quite as good as Cunk on Earth, but worth watching.

I like Cunk. Her disinterest and honesty in everything makes this mockumentary funny. I think its pacing isn't especially great and it didn't make me laugh as much as I would have liked, but it's still worth a watch. It's breezy and has some wit.

When it's not making current references that will inevitably age poorly within the next few years, it's hilarious and super well paced. So fun.

If this is the current state of British humour it is a very sad one indeed - this is as stupid as it gets, no wit at all - oh, how I miss the likes of Dave Allen!
