I love the idea, and I'm amazed at how accurately they replicate certain aspects of the documentaries they're spoofing. (The humor scale varies though) If you're like me, there will be a lot of episodes that you have to hold off on until you watch the real documentary first. From what I've seen, they veer off course enough that it's spoiler free, but I want to be in on all of the jokes.

always at least somewhat entertaining, and the best episodes are hysterical. The Eye Doesn't Lie and Mr. Runner-Up, in particular, are sublime

The quality varies so enormously that it's difficult to rate (or recommend), but anyone who likes The Thin Blue Line should absolutely see "The Eye Doesn't Lie" -- it shows utmost respect for the material and is clearly made by people who appreciate and understand it, but the satire is utterly on point, with Armisen doing the funniest character I've seen him do, and with just preposterously good jokes that all somehow fit perfectly within the rigid Errol Morris style. Co-written by John Mulaney!

Hard to rate because the quality really varies between episodes.

A few misses, but most of the episodes are hilarious spoofs of particular documentaries or genres.

Just straight up hilarious. Even though I haven't seen all of the source material that this parodies, it's really brilliant. The first episode is pretty weak, but all the rest are great. The Thin Blue Line and the Vice parodies are stand outs (and I haven't even seen the Thin Blue Line yet). Where you have seen the source material, it's even stronger.
