Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared

I just can't see this as criticism, or a spoof; to me, it's just taking the iconography of children's TV and making it uncomfortable - only, not very well.

Didn't really land for me. Not funny enough for comedy, not scary enough for horror. Any point it's trying to make (if it even has one) is lost in the intentionally off-putting weirdness.

Bland execution of a kid's show aesthetic/creepy visual dichotomy. But it's kinda obtuse so here's my YouTube video explaining ~*~*what it means*~*~

The shock value is pretty weak, but Don't Hug Me, I'm Scared looks 100% exactly like those weird 80s children's shows I used to rent VHS tapes of from my local library. It's better viewed as something funny than scary.

The jokes often don't land, but when they do they're quite good. Even though I felt it missed the mark a bit, I still find it very enjoyable to watch.
