Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars

It wasn't bad, but Farscape is much better when Crichton is going off the rails and Scorpius is the villain. The scarrans are not that engaging as villains, and the Moya crew being all nice and friendly to eachother actually kinda disrespects the spirit of the show. Even Rygel was acting nice, that's plain wrong! Also, ugly CGI that doesn't stand the test of time. It's good that Farscape gets a better conclusion than the series' cliffhanger ending, but this movie could have been much better.

Yet another post-TV-show movie that doesn't understand how its source material functioned successfully.

Not as good as some parts of the series, but considering they condensed a planned 22-episode season into the runtime of four, they did a bang-up job. They pull all the big character and plot arcs toward a satisfying ending, and along the way, they pack it with comedy, drama, and adventure (often all three at once); dip into the psychic and conceptual strangeness the series is known for; and unleash the MacGuffin of the series in a climax bigger than anything they'd yet done. I'm super satisfied!

Whereas the series would grind through the sappy cliche-ridden bullshit by delivering some ridiculous plot twist motivated only by the phrase "wouldn't it be funny if...?", the finale decides to take itself dead-serious and plunge headlong into those awful Spielbergian comedic action/adventure bromides and emerge with big grins and some afterschool special "lesson". Utter garbage. If only they had the mivonks to have Rygel eat the baby...

Nice wrap up. Using the wormhole weapon to shock the factions into peace was a very memorable scene.

Excellent wrap up to an excellent series that ended on a cliff-hanger and demanded this little gem being made. Great plot, special effects, and characters. An excellent final huzzah for fans of the show.

An OK wrap-up to a TV show that was cancelled before its time, but it just tries to cram too much in. It feels very much like it is, a 20-hour TV season condensed into a 3-hour miniseries.

The Peacekeeper Wars is an excellent conclusion to the Farscape saga. In fact I'd say that over all it's superior in some ways to the original show because it's not weighed down by filler.
